K-5 Special Education Teacher

Lisa is one of the special education teachers at Nampa Online Virtual Academy (NOVA). She started teaching in the district in 2008. Lisa has taught grades K-12 in both Idaho and California working in hospital and juvenile detention settings. Although she was born and raised in California, she considers Idaho her home after thirty years. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies from California State University, Northridge and a Master of Education degree in Special Education from Boise State. Lisa has worked with and been an advocate for persons with disabilities all of her adult life. Lisa has been married for over 35 years and has two adult sons and two testy Queensland heelers.

 

Some fun facts about Mrs. Esson:

· Is a first generation American from her father’s side of the family.

· She is a calligrapher.

· Was a Girl Scout for 22 years.

· Grows and sells really strange fruits and vegetables from her garden.

· She is a hay farmer.

· Has traveled to 48 states (needs to get to Florida and Vermont) and enjoys anything outside.

· Favorite things to do include (but aren’t limited to) snow skiing, sailing, reading, singing, gardening, cooking and eating new and different foods, traveling, hanging out with her family, and creating multi-media art.
